QuartzCom crystal specializes in small and medium batches of special crystal oscillators
In the past, coftech purchased oscillating crystals for its own production of VC-TCXO crystals and other oscillators in Japan. For example, cofftech supplied QuartzCom, based in Grenchen, Switzerland, with precision crystals from Japan. They are used in high quality oscillators in base stations for mobile communications, radar, measuring instruments and GPS devices. However, the supply of quartz crystals required for these high-quality oscillators will be difficult in the future. This is because small batch quartz production with different frequencies is no longer attractive to large Japanese quartz manufacturers. In order to accommodate the demands of high production volumes, such as consumer goods markets, Japanese manufacturers have stopped producing precision quartz crystals, which are not very profitable for them.
To secure its own quartz crystal sourcing, QuartzCom invested in a family-run Japanese company that specializes in these quartz crystals. To that end, the Swiss company is building a new production line and has purchased modern machines that are currently being installed.
